Articulation Plans Cement Postsecondary Partnerships
What to do
A thorough articulation plan that spells out “success” for students is developed. Then academy leaders can become advocates for postsecondary linkages.
Why it’s important
Community colleges and four-year institutions are proven collaborators when fully engaged in the seamless transition of students to productive employment. However, in some cases these institutions need to be briefed on the role of career academies (and high school CTE) as a potential benefit in terms of reduced remediation and increased demand. All students benefit from articulation.
Signs that you’re on the right track
• Community colleges and universities identify career academy students, follow progress, and generate demand for academy students.
• Community colleges and four-year schools recognize the value of advanced career and technical education offerings such as Ford PAS and Project Lead The Way.
• The postsecondary community is clearly engaged with the secondary and business communities in articulation planning.
• The district follows graduates to college, captures remediation data, and promotes the success of academy students.
